1) What are your sessions like?
I like to keep my sessions fun and interactive. I love getting “look at the camera” photos, but my favorite ones are when everyone is laughing or interacting with each other. I am great with little kids and have lots of patience. I even know how to get dad to crack a good smile!
2) What happens if the weather is bad?
Living in Wisconsin, weather is unpredictable and constantly changing. Rain is the main reason for any cancelled sessions. Most of the time I am not able to make the decision to cancel until the day of, sometimes hours before (if we can wait to decide). If there is a chance of rain, I will reach out to my client days before and will start coming up with a game plan. In rare cases of extreme heat, excessive wind, and super cold temps, I may cancel also (this doesn’t happen too often).
3) My kids are really young, what if they don’t listen?
I don’t expect little kids to listen. Every age has its challenges and I work around that. I go into every session with a plan, but my plan often gets changed depending how the kids are doing. I have worked hard to learn how to maximize my time with families with small children and to make my sessions fun. I also tell parents to try to embrace the season their family is in and don’t stress if you have an uncooperative child(ren). Let me take the lead and I bet you will be surprised with how great your photos turn out.
4) Where do you take photos?
I have a variety of locations that I love to take photos at depending on the season. Many of these places are private properties. I look for great sun and lots of texture. My locations depend on the season, as there are some locations that I dislike during the summer but love in late fall. All the locations I use are in the Stevens Point, Amherst, and Waupaca areas.
5) I have noticed that many of the moms wear maxi dresses, do I have to?
Moms do not have to wear a maxi dress, but I strongly encourage wearing one. Why? I have found that wearing a maxi dress/skirt adds so much to your images and is more flattering in photos. It breaks up the look of everyone wearing jeans, it can add movement (flowing dress), and it doesn’t emphasize the hip/thigh area which many woman are more self-conscious about.
6) I have no clue what to wear and I am not trendy, can you help?
I absolutely love to help. I have a complete guide that goes over a lot of great information to help you choose the perfect outfits for your family.
7) I am not a photogenic person and I feel awkward when I get my picture taken. How can you make someone like me look good?
Knowing how to pose in front of the camera is not something I expect of my clients. I will guide you throughout your session and tell you exactly what to do. I also use a variety of prompts throughout your session to get natural interactions and laughing. I get the best photos this way!
